Education

Mr. Darling attended Graceland College, where he received his B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor in 1983.  He then attended Texas Tech University, and received his J.D. and MBA degrees in 1987.

Professional Experience

Mr. Darling maintains a Preeminent AV peer review rating. He began his defense practice in Houston in 1987, representing automobile manufacturers, securities dealers, retailers, and other companies and individuals.  He has worked with the firm since moving to Corpus Christi in 1990, and opened the San Antonio office in 2000.  For the past 30+ years, he has enjoyed a litigation practice, using his background in science and business to represent hospitals, nursing homes, home care, doctors, and other healthcare professionals across Texas.  He has also represented professional services firms, automobile retailers, and other corporations and individuals in a wide range of disputes.  Mr. Darling has handled hundreds of professional liability lawsuits, the majority of which have resolved through alternative dispute strategies, including mediation and arbitration.  Mr. Darling was a partner beginning in 1994, and has been managing partner several times.  He is now of counsel to the firm.

Personal

Mr. Darling is a Past President (2020) of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, and is also Chair of Field Operations on the Board of Outreach International. Steve has served as Chair of the Advisory Board for the San Antonio Bar Association’s Community Justice Program, Vice-President of the Board of the Corpus Christi Women’s Shelter, and was a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children through CASA in Corpus Christi and San Antonio for 15 years. He is currently a mentor for the THRU Project. Steve and his wife, Bizzy, have two children, Michael and Rebecca. Steve enjoys reading, swimming, hiking, and live music.
